LISTED firm Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) formally opened on Saturday the Summit Hotel Galleria Cebu, one of Cebu’s newest hotels.
Positioned as a business and lifestyle hotel, the Summit Hotel Galleria Cebu will be in full operation by September this year, said Elizabeth Gregorio, general manager of Summit Hotels and Resort.
“Of the 220 guest rooms we have, we are close to operating 90 rooms. By September, we will be fully operational. We are now on the finishing touches,” said Gregorio, adding that they soft-opened the facility last March.
Summit Hotel Galleria Cebu forms part of the over P6-billion master-planned mixed-use development of RLC, which now has the Robinsons Galleria Cebu mall and soon the three residential condominium towers.
The hotel offers guest rooms and themed suites with room sizes ranging from 32 square meters (sq.m.) to 40 sq.m., as well as a ballroom that can accommodate 500 guests and a function room for corporate meetings, lectures, symposium, conferences, art exhibits, product launches or a party.
Gregorio said the hotel also partnered with Manila-based Raintree Hospitality for its food and beverage concepts and service. This is Raintree’s first foray in Cebu’s food and beverage industry.
The hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, which can seat around 100 people, houses different sections like a retail area that sells local artisanal items and a bakery/coffee bar.
It also has a multipurpose use as it can become a meeting place or can be transformed into a bar during the night.
Gregorio is confident that the hotel would gain a good following from both foreign and domestic tourists, especially that Cebu is in a “good spot right now for tourists,” with increasing guests from China, Japan, and Korea.
Cebu has more tourists to come with the opening of Terminal 2 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport next year. (ROC)
