VICE President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo was in Cagayan de Oro City Saturday, September 24, for a dialogue with the residents of a relocation site, a police official said.
"Dali ra kaayo ang visit ni Vice President Robredo, mga 20 to 30 minutes ra. Nag talk lang siya kadali. Ang among (Our) role is road security," said Senior Inspector Julius Saluta of Police Station 2 in Barangay Cogon, this city, over the phone.
Saluta said Robredo arrived early morning and was welcomed by homeowners of Macapaya Hills Oro Settlers Association, Inc. at Macapaya Hills, Upper Camamanan, this city. She then promptly left and headed to Laguindingan International Airport at around 9 a.m.
In the 30-minute dialogue, homeowners aired out their concerns on the water supply and road concreting in the village.
Saluta said that the vice president vowed to do her best efforts to address the homeowners’ problems. Robredo is also the chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.
Beneficiaries of the Macapaya relocation site are mostly survivors of the typhoon "Sendong" from Cala-cala and Tibasak, Barangay Macasandig in 2011.
"Sagol-sagol ang uban gikan sa Cala-cala ang uban sa Tibasak. Ang mga balay kay duplex pero bulag-bulag ang problema lang kay tubig and dalan," Saluta said.
Robredo’s visit to this city was deemed "quiet" since her itinerary was unknown to media representatives and local officials.
Saluta said they accompanied the vice president with only 14 police force members and personnel from the city public safety company. The village chief was the only local official to welcome Robredo.
Robredo was also in Bukidnon to visit the Sumilao farmers on Friday, September 23, a day after President Rodrigo Duterte visited this city.
