FIFTY-FOUR of the 300 policemen accused of misbehavior arrived Tuesday, February 21, in Basilan province via Zamboanga City from the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
Thirty-four of the 54 were from the National Capital Region (NCR) while the rest are from Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) director, said they will be assigned alongside with the policemen of PRO-Armm.
Sindac said the assignment of the Luzon-based policemen to the province of Basilan will put to test their bravery and skills.
Basilan Governor Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman said he wanted the cops to be deployed in the circumferential road of the province.
The policemen were ferried by a military truck to the Majini pier of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao where they boarded a vessel that transported them to Basilan province via Isabela City.
Upon arrival, they were required to undergo medical examination and were given cultural sensitivity orientation in preparation for deployment to the different areas under the Basilan Police Provincial Office (BPPO).
The BPPO has jurisdiction over two cities and 11 municipality, including two islands towns, police stations.
The cops were among the more than 300 erring policemen President Rodrigo Duterte ordered reassigned to the province of Basilan. (VoxPop Philippines)
