FORMER world champion Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo (27-4-1, 13KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Bukidnon’s Crimson Omayao and successfully defended his Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) lightweight on Friday, October 20, at Barangay Granada gym in Bacolod City.

Judges scores were 117-108, 118-108, and 114-112 – all for Sabillo.

Despite the win, Sabillo was half-convinced of his performance because he failed to knock Omayao.

“He just ran around the ring and tried to escape a knockout,” he said.

Sabillo revealed that his next fight could possibly be overseas.

“Ahead of my next fight, I need to train hard to improve my speed,” he added.

Jayr Raquinel (8-0-1, 5KOs) of Cauayan, Negros Occidental captured the Interim Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation flyweight title after upsetting Richard Rosales of Tagbilaran, Bohol via unanimous decision.

The Fist of Glory: Double Championship – Road to Glory was sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board headed by Chairman Abraham Khalil Mitra. (HGD)
