SOME 500 trail fanatics and running enthusiasts from all over the country are expected to gather at this year's Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas-Bacolod to be held at Campuestohan, Barangay Cabatangan in Talisay City on November 27.

The race’s Bacolod leg, which is now on its third year, is hosted by sports equipment company Salomon Group in cooperation with the Negros Mountaineering Club Inc., Prime Group of Companies, and other partners.

Race director Jovie Tuazon, who led the event launching at the SM City Bacolod Event Centre on Saturday, said X-Trail includes a mix different terrain and river crossings, downhill and uphill treks, forest canopy covers, and grassland hikes.

Aside from the technical trail running race experience, the “rain

or shine” event will also provide participants the spectacular view of Negros and Panay Islands, he added.

“The starting line is at 720 meters and goes down to a low of 520 meters,” Tuazon said, adding that the highest point is at 960 meters with a beautiful view of Bacolod City and nearby areas.

Since X-Trail Pilipinas is a green event, all participants are obliged to bring hydration packs. They will also pass through the tree planting site of the Negros Mountaineering Club.

In collaboration with the Negros Forests Ecological Foundation Inc. (NFEFI), they are eyeing to plant more trees in the province, particularly in areas where the race is being conducted, Tuazon said.

All proceeds of the event will be for the continuous tree planting project of NFEFI, he added.

Registration fee for the 12.5-kilometer (km) short course run is P800 while for the 17-km long course, P1, 000.

The three winners for the long course will receive P5,000, P3,000 and P1,500 in cash prizes, respectively while the top three in the short course will P3,000, P2 000 and P1,000. They will also receive Salomon freebies.

All registered participants will get technical shirts, Salomon race bag, 20 percent discount in Salomon stores in Bacolod and Iloilo, full meal, and giveaways from sponsors, among others.
