SAN SIMON -- At least 80 ailing residents of this town on Tuesday, April 25, received financial assistance from the local government here.
Mayor Leonora Wong and former Mayor Rodrigo Canlas led the distribution of cash grants to indigent’s constituents who are facing different medical illnesses.
Wong said that the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office identified the residents who are all indigents and are in need of immediate medical attention.
“Yung mga nagdadialysis, chemotheraphy, may pneumonia or kidney failure at ibang mga seryosong sakit na hirap financially ang mga nabigyan,” she explained.
Wong said that a total of P698,000 was distributed to the beneficiaries. The funds where sourced from the Seal of Good Local Governance award received by the local government of San Simon.
The mayor added that the recipients are just the first batch of beneficiaries who will benefit from the said project which is included in the bottoms-up budgeting (BuB) program.
“P15-million yung total fund ng San Simon from BuB and this will be allocated sa mga projects that will cater to all sectors of society, especially education,” she said.
