LABOR leader Wennie Sancho said Monday that “unseen hands” are apparently blocking him from running as director of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).
Sancho said he refiled his certificate of candidacy for the March 26 special election, but he was disqualified again by the Screening Committee led by Chuchie Destriza and Jose Taniongon, who argued that he is a government employee and needs an authority to run.
“I already submitted the certification that I’m not a government employee, why they insist on it?” Sancho added.
On March 4, the District Election Committee had declared failure of elections in Districts IV-Bacolod East and District V-Bacolod West because there were no qualified candidates.
Sancho, along with former Ceneco director Roy Cordova, were both disqualified from running in District IV during the March 4 election.
Cordova was disqualified due to disallowed expenses when he was still director while Sancho was not able to submit a certification that he is the labor sector representative to the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Western Visayas.
Both filed their motion for reconsiderations, and the Screening Committee accepted Cordova as candidate after he settled his account.
Ceneco will hold a special election on March 26 for Districts IV and V.
District IV covers Barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Estefania, Alangilan, Granada, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, and Abkasa, while District V covers Barangays 8,9,10,11,12,14,15,16,21,34,35,36,37,38,38 and Singcang-Airport.
“For me, there are unseen hands who are blocking me from being qualified candidate for Ceneco director. It is a bad day for the Ceneco consumers because we can no longer air our true sentiments,” Sancho said.
“I will divulge all the corruption inside Ceneco that is why they are blocking my candidacy,” he added.
Sancho said he filed again his motion for reconsideration and if the Screening Committee will deny him again, he will file charges against them.
