FORMER Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Roldan Sangcha-an gets back to action after almost two year of hiatus after signing up with Australian mixed martial arts (MMA) promotions Hex Fight Series.
In a report by Dojo Drifter, Sangcha-an makes his MMA return this weekend, facing Filipino-Australian Darwin Sagurit in Hex Fight Series 11 at the Melbourne Pavilion.
Headlining the event will be Charlie “El Guerrero” Alaniz as he returns from The Ultimate Fighter 24 and will defend his Hex flyweight championship belt against the hard-hitting Japanese star Hiroki Yamashita.
The Sangcha-an and Sagurit match-up will co-headline the event.
Aside from his two year lay-off, Sangcha-an is also coming from a two fight losing streak since he was signed up by the UFC.
After winning four straight, Sangcha-an fell to a much taller Richie Vaculik in January 2014 in the undercard of UFC Fight Night 43.
The 26-year-old native of Mt. Province also fell to Jon Delos Reyes via a second round submission in the undercard of UFC Fight Night 66.
His effort, however, did not went to naught as he took home the fight of the night honors.
Sangcha-an's notable victory include a second round technical knockout against Aslan Toktarbaev and PXC title contender Ernesto Montilla via a rear naked submission.
Sagurit, whose records stands at 7-3, is in a two fight streak with back to back TKO victories against Richie Ivory and Byron Cowell.
Prior to his back to back wins, Sagurit also scored a five fight winning streak but was cut when he lost to Filipino Rex de Lara in April 2016.
Sangcha-an is now based in Australia, according to Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao. (Roderick Osis)
