PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago is set to resume her campaign sorties at her alma mater, the University of the Philippines (UP) in Iloilo City, on April 13.
In a Facebook post, Santiago's staff announced that Santiago will deliver a speech in the afternoon and that the event is open to the public.
"Five days to go and Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago will go back to the university where she finished her college. The program will start at 2 p.m. The occasion is also open to the public," the announcement read at the senator’s official Facebook page.
Santiago is expected to be joined by her running mate, Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who earlier confirmed that they will soon hit the campaign trail next week.
The tandem was last seen together during the launching of the Youth for Miriam Movement at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City on February 15.
Santiago, who was diagnosed of stage four lung cancer, also failed to attend the second leg of presidential debates in Cebu City as she was undergoing clinical trial for a new anti-cancer drug.
She, however, said she would try to participate in the third and last presidential debate, if the ongoing treatments do not inhibit her.
Given the health condition of Santiago, Marcos said they planned not to campaign together at all times. Marcos added that it would also be more practical for them to campaign separately to cover more areas. (Sunnex)
