THIRTEEN floats showcasing Zamboanga City’s iconic landmarks and colorful history lighted up the streets during the Parade of Lights on Tuesday night, October 10.
The Parade of Lights, a float competition held on the 10th day of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival, started at Mayor Vitaliano Agan Avenue and culminated at the City Hall grounds downtown.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, together with guest Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano, aboard bikes joined the Parade of Lights that was held simultaneously with the Concierto na Ayuntamiento featuring the award-winning Cantamos Chorale of the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC).
Ligo Sardines Company's entry won the float competition, bagging the P100,000 prize. Salum Elementary School-San Roque got the 2nd place (P80,000 prize); followed by Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (P70,000 prize); Mega Fishing Corporation (P60,000 prize); and Solane LPG Petron (P50,000 prize).
Other participants include the village of Calarian; Ritemed; Dulian-Upper Bungiao village; Dynafarm; MLhuiller; Mega Fishing Corporation; Benlife Insurance Company Inc.; and Cignal.
