THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is holding the first-ever “Satti Festival” to allow its inmates to join the celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

Superintendent Allan Vargas, Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) warden, said the activity, dubbed as “Sattihan na City Jail Festival,” will be held Tuesday, October 10, at the ZCRC compound.

Vargas said the Satti festival will be participated by the BJMP personnel, inmates and their families, as well as visitors.

Vargas said the Satti Festival is one of the activities they have lined up in line with the celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

The Hermosa Festival kicked off on October 1 and its highlight is on October 12, the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar, the most revered saint of Zamboanga City.

Vargas said the Satti Festival will be held alongside the dance competition among the inmates.

Satti is a delicacy of grilled chicken and cubed rice dipped in overflowing Satti sauce.

Last year, the BJMP also feted the ZCRC inmates with crabs during the “Curacha Festival.” (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
