HERE is good news for Negrense football fans.
FILIPINO-GERMAN Stephan Schröck and Swedish-born Filipino-Iranian Omid Nazari are expected to join Ceres Negros Football Club (FC) when it faces Home United of Singapore in the AFC Cup Zonal Finals this coming August.
When the AFC transfer window opens in August, Ceres FC has the opportunity to register new players in their lineup for the next stage of AFC Cup.
The entry of these two midfielders into the team will definitely make the team more aggressive and lethal on offense.
Schröck, who was instrumental in Ceres’ win over Global on Saturday in the Philippines Football League, said the club's entry in the Zonal finals was historic, not only for the club but for the entire country.
Ceres FC secured seat in the AFC Cup Asean Zone Finals with a 2-1 win over Malaysia’s Johor Darul Ta’zim FC last May 31 at the Panaad Stadium on Fernando Rodriquez’s late penalty in the additional five minutes.
Both played on Saturday when Ceres FC won over Global Cebu FC through Jeffrey Christaens’ lone goal in the tournament beating keeper Patrick Deyto in the 83rd minute off a cross from Schrock from the right flank.
The Philippines Football League is the qualifying tournament to which club will next represent the country in next year’s AFC Cup.
