CEBU CITY (Updated) -- A security agency supervisor allegedly took away almost half a million cash from the agency he was working at in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City.
Jerry Singson, security supervisor and liaison officer of Private Marshal Agent Security Services (PMASS), no longer went back to the office after he allegedly took the P450,000, which was supposedly the salary of the security guards that were assigned to different provinces.
Police Officer 2 Jason Flores of Mandaue Police Station 1 said the incident was reported at 4:30 p.m. last October 10 by PMASS operations officer Ramil Damian.
In an interview Thursday, October 19, Edwin Jakosalem, general manager of PMASS, said Singson, 46, started working in their office since 2013 after he was referred by another security agency.
In January 2015, Singson, a native from Pikit, Cotabato and presently residing in Consolacion town, Cebu, was appointed as a security supervisor and liaison officer.
One of his tasks was to deposit salary and allowances of the security guards of PMASS through money transfers and banks.
Last October 10, Jakosalem said Singson brought the money to deposit and sent it to the 120 security guards that were assigned in Batangas, Mindoro, Iloilo, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Leyte, Bohol, Camotes Island and Tabuelan.
After the PMASS office received an information from the security guards that they did not receive their salary on that day, Jakosalem said they called Singson’s cellphone number, but it was not the latter who answered.
“Lain ang nitubag sa cellphone lain na lalaki. Ang sulti ‘amo gi-pick up si Singson among gi-hold diri naa ni atraso (It was a man who answered the phone saying that they hold Singson because the latter had done something wrong),” said Jakosalem.
PMASS once again called the number but it was no longer available.
Jakosalem said they were told by the Mandaue Investigation and Detective Management Branch officers that Singson just tried to set up that he was abducted to escape his liabilities.
Before this happened, Singson allegedly collected P4,000 each to about 10 security guards and promising them to process their licenses. He also made a P10,000 cash advance to PMASS.
Jakosalem added they will file a case against Singson on Friday, October 20. (FMG)
