PAOLO Ballesteros and Irma Adlawan bagged the top acting trophies at the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Ballesteros was recognized for his portrayal of a transgender woman in Jun Robles Lana's critically acclaimed film "Die Beautiful" while Adlawan won for "Oro".
He also reaped acting award at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan in November.
Meanwhile, Ballesteros’ co-star, Christian Bables, was named Best Supporting Actor while Phoebe Walker took home the Best Supporting Actress award.
Lone horror entry "Seklusyon" bagged the most number of trophies -- eight.
Erik Matti was hailed Best Director while the film bagged Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Sound Design, among others.

"Die Beautiful" was also picked as MMFF My Most Favorite Movie (Audience Choice Award) while "Sunday Beauty Queen" bagged the Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
For the short film category, "Manila Scream" won HOOQ Short Film Special Jury Prize while "Passage of Life" was hailed Best Work for Children.
Other winners in this category are "Mitatang" (Best Short Film Screenplay Award), Jarell Serencio (Best Short Film Director) and "EJK" by Bor Ocampo as MMFF Best Short Film winner.
The 42nd edition of the MMFF award night was held Thursday evening, December 30 at Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City. (Sunnex)
