THEN Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)
As a nation we are entering in a portal of protection, provisions and promises that God has purposed, predestined and planned. But there are battles to win, there are ways to fight and there are giants to kill before we fully, completely enter in and crossover into all that God desires.
We see rapid movement of good and bad things sporadically sprouting. There has been a mixture of both, simultaneously moving. This is so because people tend to push their own agenda. They have good plans and good intentions but somehow unfavorable selfish executions. Selfishness is having or showing concern only for oneself and not for the needs or feelings of other people. They want their own plans be realized and materialized to be publicly recognized. Most of the things they do and accomplished are for self aggrandizement. The Bible describes this as the time when men will become lovers of themselves, boasters, and proud (2 Timothy 3:2).
Let us not allow this boasting of self pushing our own agenda to open a window for decay and decline. Let us stop serving self and instead serve others. Philippians 2:3-4 Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. Just like Jesus, though he is the son of God, he came to serve and not to serve. That is what Merriam Webster defines selflessness as having no concern for self.
Finding our identity in God will make our life way simpler and unpretentious. It will cause us to choose only what is essential and truly lasting and forsake those that are only skin deep or temporal. We can be freed from the threat of rejection or the pain of abandonment by dying to and denying ourselves of the pleasure, recognition, and glory that this world can offer. We will no longer care if people pay tribute to us or honor us for our works; all we will care about is whether God is pleased with our thoughts and actions. If such selflessness prevails in the nation, we can expect commercialism to shut down and stop sucking our blood; there will be no more fierce rivalry or competitions that lead to mudslinging or divide the people. All we will have is peace and solidarity, concern for the people and genuine public service.
Let us live a life for God, Country and Countrymen. We will then fully enter in the portal of protection, provisions and promises that God has purposed, predestined and planned living selflessness.
