NEWLY-assigned Prosecutor General Victor Sepulveda took oath Monday, December 19, before Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The oath taking of Supelveda was witnessed by Regional Prosecutor Janet Grace Fabrero, Davao City Prosecutor Nestor Ledesma, and other city prosecutors.
Based from previous reports, the appointment of Sepulveda was announced by Justice Secretary Erickson Galvez two weeks ago.
Sepulveda will replace Prosecutor General Claro Arellano who filed a leave after being appointed as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) administrator.
Sepulveda served as acting chief prosecutor of Davao City from 2014 to early 2015 until Davao City Prosecutor Nestor Ledesma assumed his post.
He reportedly recommended the filing of information before the court against Superintendent Leonardo Felonia, former chief of the Regional Intelligence Unit and three others for murder charges in connection to the death of Richard King, a Cebu-based businessman in 2014.
Sepulveda, a law graduate of Ateneo De Davao University, served as a government prosecutor for 29 years.
