THE countdown has started for the upcoming fight of two undefeated fighters for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) world featherweight title fight on September 22 at Tucson, Arizona, USA.
Bacolod City pride Genesis “Azukal” Servania (29-0, 12 KOs) is set to challenge defending champion Oscar Valdez (22-0, 19 KOs) of Mexico.
Servania said he is very excited as the match date comes closer as this is the fight he has been waiting for the longest time.
“To be in a world title fight has been my dream. I think this fight is for me and I believe that I can win,” he said.
At present, Servania is having tough training at Kashimi boxing gym in Japan under the watchful eyes of fellow Bacolodnon boxer-turned coach Ecoh Melligen.
Melligen said Servania is in his best shape ahead of this fight and believes that the undefeated challenger will bring a huge fight against Valdez.
Servania is coming off a knockout victory over fellow Filipino compatriot Ralph Jhon Lulu in April for the WBO regional crown.
The Bacolod-hailed fighter is ranked 15th in WBO featherweight division ruled by Valdez.
He is also ranked No.4 in the WBO junior featherweight dominated by undefeated American champion Jessie Magdaleno (25-0 with 18 KOs) and No. 9 in the IBF lorded by Japanese Yukinori Oguni (19-1 with 7KOs). (HGD)
