SHOWTIME Bowlers emerged champion in the just-concluded 80th Araw ng Dabaw SBC Open bowling tournament held at Fairlanes Bowling Center in Davao City.
Showtime Bowlers, who gained a twice-to-beat advantage, lost its first match against Maftractor, 547-559, but bounced back in the rubber match, 547-498, of the step-the-ladder championship round in the event organized by the Sunday Bowlers Club in partnership with the Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office (SDD-CMO).
Maftractor bowlers, who clinched the highest team single, defeated Diagold Pawnshop 545-516, after beating Jonzlibz, 582-562, to arrange a titular showdown against top qualifier Showtime Bowlers.
Maftractor placed second while Diagold and Jonzlibz grabbed the next two places.
Showtime received P12,000 and a trophy while the next three winners took home P9,000, P7,000 and P5,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, Noel "Tata" Gorgonio annexed the masters game title after rolling 138 pins followed by Peddy Enriquez (132) in second, Berting Gorgonio (128) third and Fritz Barros (125) fourth.
Special awardees were Showtime bowlers (1,126, highest team double), Noel Gorgonio (highest single), Jun Auza (highest team double), Jojo Sta. Maria (highest pinning) and Fritz Barros (highest average).
They all received cash prizes and trophies courtesy of SDD-CMO.
