VISITING Sacred Heart School (SHS)-Ateneo de Cebu clinched the title after trouncing Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Blue Knights, 71-43, in the championship match of the Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) 2016 High School Basketball Tournament held at ADDU Jacinto gym late Tuesday, November 8.
SHS, capitalizing on their height and heft, proved too much for the Blue Knights who could not get their acts together.
ADDU’S big three Axel Doromal, Francis Escandor and Marion Angeles were closely guarded, limiting their attempts on the basket.
SHS’s Alex Visser drilled in 13 points and Jed Colonia made 12 for the win.
ADDU’S team captain Dariel Manliguez finished with nine points while Doromal contributed eight points in a losing effort.
Escandor and Angeles only managed to hit three and two points, respectively.
It came out more painful for ADDU as center Joshua Barrientos succumbed to a leg injury.
SHS head coach Romel Rasmo, in an interview with VoxPop Davao, said they had been preparing for the event, adding that they anticipated playing against ADDU in the championship.
Rasmo also cited Blue Knights coach Miguel Solitaria for giving them a good game.
“We kept on monitoring Addu and we have a high respect for them.”
He then congratulated coach Addu athletics director Noli Ayo for hosting such a successful JAM.
