TWO siblings were arrested after they yielded an estimated P600,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a drug bust at Barangay 28, Bacolod City Wednesday night.
Police identified the suspects as Ginna Mariga, 34, of Barangay 31, a high-value target; and her elder brother Ismael Mariga, 37, of Bago City.
Both are newly-identified drug personalities.
Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, assistant team leader of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), said both suspects sold shabu to a police agent for P1,000 during the operation conducted at 7:30 p.m.
Operatives recovered from the Mariga siblings nine sachets of suspected shabu weighing 40 grams, and the P1,000 marked money.
The two suspects, who are detained at Police Station 6, will be charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
Albaytar said the suspects are selling illegal drugs in various cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental.
“We’ve been monitoring them for one month,” he added.
Albaytar said the younger Mariga took over the drug trade of her cousin Khominee Dimasangcai, the second top drug personality of Police Station 6, who was arrested in a drug raid in Purok Fatima, Barangay 31 in June last that resulted to the confiscation of an estimated P800,000 worth of shabu.
