THE National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Zamboanga City Government will spearhead on Tuesday, May 9, the handover of 240 permanent houses constructed at Sitio Hongkong in the village of Rio Hondo.
The beneficiaries of the permanent shelters are the siege-affected families from the Sama Dilaut tribe.
On September 9 2013, Moro rebels led by Moro National Liberation Front leader Nur Misuari staged a four-day siege in four villages in Zamboanga City that led to the displacement of thousands of people and affecting its local economy.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and NHA district manager Al-khwarizmi Indanan will lead the turnover ceremony set at 8 a.m. at the new Fishpond Road (near the project site).
Salazar said the Sitio Hongkong Rehabilitation Project is one of the 18 housing packages undertaken by the NHA with a project cost of P53.513 million and undertaken by the Limestone Construction and Development Corporation.
The project site has a total land area of 1,975 square meters with a total of 240 units. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
