THE Sirawan National High School (SNHS) escaped Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (Dranhs), 2-1, in the best-of-three finals of the 4th Davao City Juniors Inter-School Touch Rugby tournament held at the Crossing Bayabas NHS.
SNHS defeated Dranhs, 1-0, in the first match but the latter recovered to tie the series with a 1-0 win in the second game.
In the rubber match, SNHS went on to clinch the title via a 1-0 win over Dranhs in the secondary boys division. Dranhs player Benone Pogado was named most improved player.
Emilio Ramos NHS subdued SNHS, 1-0, to also annex the secondary girls crown. Barbilyn Nor of SNHS was hailed MIP.
Sirawan Beach Elementary School also shared the limelight by topping the elementary boys event having blanked Piedad Central Elementary School (PCES), 1-0. John Dave Sultan of Bangkas Elementary School was crowned MIP.
In the distaff side, Sbes and Don Juan Dela Cruz Central Elementary School (DJDCCES) were both declared co-champions as they forced a scoreless draw at the end of regulation and extension period.
Kate Duffy Gel McDowell of DJDCCES went home with the MIP award.
Tournament director Blessie Kate Delos Santos said ended the match due to minimal daylight.
