A CAR with a person inside it was set ablaze on Wednesday night, January 31, in Sitio Tal-ot, Barangay Valencia, Carcar City, Cebu.

Police Officer 2 Joe Marie Villar, desk officer, said the remains were charred beyond recognition.

"Bukog na lang ang nabilin," he said in a phone interview.

He said the car was identified by investigators as Suzuki Ertiga.

At 10:07 p.m., Villar said they received a telephone call from a resident, informing them that a car was burning.

A team of police officers conducting a checkpoint in Barangay Liburon went to the area.

"Pag-abot dako pa ang kayo maong nanawag og mga bombero," Villar said.

After the fire was put out by firefighters, the police discovered the charred body.

Villar said the investigators are still looking for witnesses who may have seen the culprits before setting the car on fire.

Police will also check closed circuit television cameras of the establishments on the streets leading to Valencia. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
