SM asks for reconsideration on permits suspension

SM PRIME Holdings Inc. (SMPHI) asked Cebu City Hall for reconsideration on the suspension of its tenants’ permits, but Mayor Tomas Osmeña stood pat on his decision not to release all pending building and occupancy permits of tenants of SM Seaside City.

The permits are needed for the issuance of a business permit.

Osmeña earlier announced that the suspension is in effect until SMPHI corrects the construction violation of SM Seaside.

In its letter to Building Official Engr. Josefa Ylanan, SMPHI asked to work on the compliance after the peak season, or on February.

Ylanan said a joint survey by the Office of the Building Official and Department of Public Works and Highways three weeks ago revealed that SM has violated the required minimum setback width for lands abutting road right of way.

Osmena said he will not consider the appeal because doing so would mean tolerating the corrupt.

He also wants the iconic cube of SM Seaside City moved, because it is encroaching the road right of way. (RTF/VoxPop Cebu)
