TODAY I would like to use a simple illustration with regards to proper exercise, and eating right. Think of your health as a bank account. Eating well and proper exercise leads to more deposits, e.g. more savings, more savings equals more wealth. However, when we do not eat well or when we don’t exercise, think of it as withdrawals wherein you’re actually withdrawing from your health.
Now if you’ve got big deposits, or if your maintaining balance is high, that’s when you can afford to do some small withdrawals (think cheat days, or days when you can’t get to exercise). However, too many people in general withdraw more than they can deposit, creating a “Negative Health Balance.” And eventually we’re going to end up broke and in debt to our health.
Avoid this situation by putting in incremental deposits to your health by exercising, eating well and stressing less. Simple tips:
1. Put in at least one hour of movement in a day, if not, try to do an intense exercise for 15 minutes each day.
2. Eat more fruits and vegetables.
3. Drink lots of water.
4. Sleep well. Minimize technology use before bedtime.
5. Decrease your intake of sugar.
6. Decrease your intake of processed food.
For most people who aren’t into any healthy lifestyle yet, doing those six tips are guaranteed to make you feel better and healthier in the short term. So invest in your health; you won’t regret it!
