SPC gets back at Liceo, 91-85

REVENGE came quickly for the Southern de Oro Philippines College (SPC) Sharks of coach Rey Dangcal.

Facing the same foe that edged them by one point in the Gitagum championship two nights ago, the avenging SPC Sharks defeated the Liceo de Cagayan University Senior Titans, 91-85 in their final rematch for the

Barangay Tablon Fiesta Invitational Basketball League here on Thursday at the Tablon gym.

rSix-foot center Earl Ibot presided over the SPC’s offense with 20 points as Marlon Daitol and Christian Pagaran came up with 16 and 14 markers each for the victory.

rStarting guard LJ Aquino was also big factor as the Sharks’ valuable import along with sixth man Daitol.

Giving only 11 points, Aquino’s leadership was most important for SPC’s dynamic play.

“Na-appreciate nako ang presensya niya kay siya gyud nakadala sa dula sa team,” Dangcal said.

The SPC’s defensive preparations worked as well in limiting Liceo’s 6-foot-7 behemoth Nsuzi Quentin and pressuring experienced playmaker Joel Sollano.

The Sharks broke away from a tight first half battle to go up by 20 in the third quarter.

A Liceo run erased the SPC’s double-digit lead but not enough to reverse the outcome in the fourth and final quarter.
