A COLLEGE student was arrested after police seized from him suspected marijuana leaves during a checkpoint at Purok Tilapia, Barangay 3 in Bacolod City Tuesday night.
Collared was Paul Clarence Ellera, 18, of San Dionisio, Barangay Granada.
Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr., head of Police Station 2, said Ellera and motorcycle driver Randy Gensoli, 37, of Barangay Granada were flagged down by station personnel around 11:30 p.m.
However, they did not stop, prompting police to inform the advanced security personnel in the adjacent area to intercept them.
Both suspects were cornered.
Upon checking, police confiscated from Ellera’s bag three plastics containing suspected marijuana leaves.
Villarias said Gensoli will also be charged because he knew about the contraband. He was an accessory to the crime, he added.
Once the results of the laboratory test comes out, both will be held liable, Villarias said.
He also said that they are checking Ellera’s farm to determine if there are marijuana plants in the area.
Both suspects are detained at the station.
