AN ALLEGED “bomber” of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) with P1.3 million reward was arrested by joint military and police forces in the province of Basilan, top military officials announced Thursday.
Newly-promoted Brigadier General Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Basilan commander, identified the arrested ASG “bomber” as Rahim Abdul alias Aman Kabalu.
Uy said Abdul was arrested around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday in the village of Kaumpurnah Zone I, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.
Uy, who is also the Army’s 104th Infantry Brigade, said the arresting team seized from Abdul’s possession a fragmentation grenade.
He said Abdul was arrested without resistance after the latter was positively identified by a civilian as a member of the ASG and turned out to be a bomb expert.
He said Abdul is listed under the Department of National Defense-Department of Interior and Local Government (DND-DILG) Joint Order of Rewards with P1.3 million cash reward.
Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, has commended the troops for the successful operation, which led to the arrest of Abdul, a notorious bomber. (VoxPop Philippines)
