FOUR persons were killed in separate shooting incidents in Liloan town and Cebu City last Wednesday and Saturday night.
Two suspected drug pushers, who had surrendered during an Oplan Tokhang operation, were killed near the San Roque Parish in Barangay Yati, Liloan around 8 p.m last Wednesday.
Police identified the victims as Emmanuel “Maning” Quirol, 39, a resident of Sitio Cogon, Barangay Poblacion; and Marlo Magdadaro, 31, a resident of Barangay San Vicente.
Quirol was on the list of the town’s top drug personalities while Magdadaro was on the police drugs watch list.
According to initial investigation, the two were gunned down by four unidentified men on a motorcycle 15 meters away from the barangay hall.
The assailants were wearing helmets.
PO3 Jason Gayo of the Liloan police said the two went to the barangay hall to update their details for the profiling of Oplan Tokhang.
According to Quirol’s relative, though, the victim did not stop his involvement in illegal drugs and owed of P60,000.
Self-defense
Recovered from the scene were four empty shells of a .45 pistol, three deformed slugs, a cellphone, various drug paraphernalia and a sachet of shabu.
Yesterday, an ex-convict was killed by three unidentified men in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Ariel Rama, 22, was on his way home when three men on a motorcycle shot him several times around 1 a.m.
According to PO3 Eric Arnido of Police Station 6, the victim served jail time in the Cebu City Jail for drugs.
Also that same hour, a suspected drug user was killed by a policeman in an act of self-defense in Sitio Sto. Niño,
Barangay Quiot, Cebu City.
Prior to the incident, a concerned citizen alerted the police of an armed, drunk man in the area.
Two policemen from the Punta Prinsesa Police Station responded to the alarm.
When the victim identified as Herman Savelliejo saw them approach, he allegedly tried to draw his 9mm revolver but PO2 Morison Abellana shot him first.
Savelliejo already surrendered during Oplan Tokhang last month as a user.
The 9mm revolver loaded with three live ammunition was recovered from the scene.
In Lapu-Lapu City, the body of 27-year-old Arnel Ontong was found dead with several gunshot wounds in Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Agus around 6 a.m. yesterday.
Residents in the area heard several gunshots around 1 a.m.
No suspect, no motive
Ontong reportedly was a resident of Ompad Compound in Barangay Pajac.
PO3 Lydo Pinos of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section said Ontong was last seen attending a wake in Barangay Agus.
Pinos said the victim was shot four times.
Four empty shells from a 9mm pistol were found in the scene.
According to the investigator, Ontong was linked to the illegal drug trade.
His sister had also filed a case of illegal possession of firearms against him in 2013.
Police have yet to identify the gunman or determine the motive of the shooting.
Last Friday, operatives of Lapu-Lapu Police Station 3 caught Alvin Billones, 31, during a buy-bust in Purok Mangga, Barangay Canjulao.
Chief Insp. Jaime Tolentino, chief of the police station, said they received reports about the suspect’s illegal
drugs activity.
The team led by Tolentino conducted the operation against Billones and arrested him past 10 a.m.
Police recovered 55 sachets of suspected shabu, aside from the sachet that was bought by the police decoy.
Tolentino said the drugs confiscated were worth P27,000.
Billones was detained in the station’s holding cell.
