THE City Government of Talisay will soon start the construction of the building of Talisay City Police Station.
Mayor Neil Lizares, who led the groundbreaking rites on Wednesday, said the project costs P14 million.
The new police station, which will rise near the new city hall, will be funded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
It will be more convenient to our constituents if the government offices and the police station are centralized, Lizares said.
He added that existing police station and the Old City Hall will be renovated as part of a heritage site. The Hall of Justice, public plaza, and other offices will also be preserved as a tourism site.
Lizares committed to provide the city police with three patrol vehicles before the end of the year.
Also present in the ceremony were Superintendent Adonis Rosales, chief of Talisay City Police Station; Senior Superintendent William Señoron, acting provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office; and Senior Superintendent Leonardo Cesneros, deputy regional director for administration of Police Regional Office-18.
Other city officials and guests also gathered for the blessing of the site officiated by chaplain Inspector Joseph Ocampo.
