THOSE traveling to Talisay City will have to schedule their travel time at the earliest as the city will hold its annual Halad Talisaynon Street and Dance Festival today.
Starting at 12:30 p.m. today, the coastal side of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) from the Talisay City Hall toward the junction in Barangay San Isidro will be closed to traffic to make way for the street dancing category of the festival, said Almond dela Peña, operations head of the City of Talisay Traffic Operation Development Authority (CTTODA).
But Dela Peña told Sun.Star Cebu that the mountain side of the CSCR or the southbound lane will be opened to two-way traffic starting at noon.
Once all contingents of the Halad Talisaynon Dance Festival will enter the Barangay Dumlog road, Dela Peña will order the reopening of the CSCR to normal traffic.
But even though the CSCR will be reopened, vehicles going toward the internal section of Barangay Poblacion will have to take another route as traffic enforcers will close Rizal St. until the activity will end.
Access
Dela Peña said that as an option, vehicles going to Barangay Poblacion will have to take the Sitio Uldog access road, behind the Sisters of Mary Girls Town School.
A series of rerouting schemes will be implemented until the fiesta proper on Saturday.
Dela Peña said that around 40 traffic enforcers, including himself, will watch the streets to ensure that traffic will not be disrupted during the fiesta activities.
Also, the local police are also ready to secure local and foreign visitors who will attend the fiesta and other activities.
Augmentation
Supt. Aileen Recla, acting Talisay City police chief, told reporters that 20 personnel from the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) will be deployed to assist them in safeguarding the fiesta.
Aside from the local police, barangay officials and auxiliary groups will be assisting them in ensuring peace and order in the city.
Recla said that they haven’t received any information of possible criminal elements that might take advantage of the festivities to commit crimes.
