A POLICE investigator said the Tañajura brothers, one of whom was killed after allegedly robbing a store in Tagoloan town of P5,880 on Sunday, may also be the same suspects in other robberies in Misamis Oriental and in Cagayan de Oro City.
Senior Police Officer (SPO4) Richie Raiz of the Tagoloan Police Station said PO1 Whylder Tañajura will be facing more criminal charges after several robbery victims came out and implicated the policeman in several robbery cases.
Raiz said victims from the towns of Balingasag, Villanueva, Sugbongcogon and barangay Lapasan in Cagayan de Oro City linked Tañajura based on body structure, gestures, helmet and the motorcycle recovered during the recent robbery in Tagoloan.
The policeman’s younger brother, PO1 Niril Van Tañajura, was killed by an unnamed person as the two were fleeing after robbing the store in Tagoloan Sunday.
"Before sa hitabo wala mi nadungog but after daghan nanganhi nag indeitfy sa ila nga gitudlo sila ang nanulis,"Raiz said.
Raiz said victim's accounts and CCTV footages point to Tanajura as a likely suspect in several armed robberies. .
"Mao-mao man gyud ang pamayhon gikan sa CCTV katong sa Lapasan nga robbery apil ang helmet and ang motor,"Raiz said.
"Posible madugangan pa gyud nang ilang kaso kung moduso na tong mga biktima nga mo-file,"Raiz added.
The police brothers were charged on Monday for robbery, illegal possession of firearms, illegal possession of explosives and attempted homicide.
Superintendent Surki Sereñas, spokesperson of Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao, said the surviving brother has been recommended for dismissal from service.
"The action will emanate from the unit where they are assigned. Then order will be coursed through channel," Sereñas said.
Chief Inspector Ariel Philip Pontillas, Police Station 3 chief, ordered a re-investigation of a robbery case involving a motorcycle shop in Barangay Lapasan, this city sometime in January this year.
"Dako ang possibility naa resemblance sa CCTV footage. Ako gipa-imbestigahan. Amo i-file ang kaso," Pontillas said.
