STUDENTS from 13 public high schools in Iloilo City are taught on taxation to help them become responsible tax payers in the future.
“Our Tax Information Campaign aims to raise the students’ awareness of taxation and develop in them positive attitudes,” Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said.
The Tax Information Drive is conducted by the City Assessors’ Office every year, the first ever form of initiative in the region.
“This is a unique opportunity for Iloilo City to foster fiscal responsibility among our future taxpayers,” said City Assessor Nelson Parreno.
The City Assessors’ Office personnel discuss with the students topics on real property taxation and effects of taxation on society, after which they are given tests to check on their learning and comprehension.
The city’s strong tax information campaign has helped the city garner the Best Practice Award, from the Bureau of Local Government Finance. (PIA)
