BACOLOD Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) Thunderbolts came out strong with dominating performances in the recently-concluded chess and lawn tennis secondary boys’ events of the ongoing Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association Season 36.
Tay Tung woodpushers ruled the elementary boys and girls, and secondary girls’ divisions, and settled for second in the secondary boys.
The Thunderbolts topped the elementary boys’ after scoring 25.5 points in seven rounds behind gold medalists Tyrone Dale Yao and Christian Demisana, silver medalist Rheo Cordova, bronze medalist Raphael Danil Lim, and team mates John Mark Gelera and Paul Bryan Chua.
Second in the category is Trinity Christian School (TCS) with 21.0 points followed by Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) - 17.0 points; St. Scholastica’s Academy (SSA) - 15.5 points; and Eliakim Learning Center (ELC) - 14.5 points.
BTTHS edged other schools in the elementary girls with 26.0 points behind gold medalists Mael Dawn and Dana Faye Detablan, Maria Kassandra Belle Demisana, and Laisa Denise Laurel and team mates Patricia Therese Anica Doctora and Rheojan Cordova.
Trailing behind at second place is STI West Negros University with 20.5 points then Tangub Christian Academy (TBA) with 17.0 points, followed by Maranatha Christian Academy and ELC.
BTTHS secondary girls’ team also dominated the division with 23.5 points led by gold medalists Krizzia Ricci Nepomuceno and Cherry Catherine Ng, and bronze medalist Rica Rose Gabales. Shakira Lyza Kee, Anneka Servelo and Aliya Flores also saw action for the Thunderbolts.
Completing the top five are STI WNU with 21.0 points; University of St. La Salle-IS, 17.0 (11 MP); St. Joseph School-LS, 17.0 (9 MP); and Marantha Christian College, 13.5.
Tay Tung finished second in the secondary boys behind STI WNU as Cedric Severino and Jireh Martinez took the silver medals.
Meanwhile, netters Fernando Caesar Po, Vince Gabriel Apostol and Sean Andrei Lozana won the lawn tennis boys title.
