CEBU CITY (Updated) -- A young mother gave birth to a baby in a trisikad (cycle rickshaw) on the way to a hospital in this city on Monday, November 28.
Eighteen-year-old Rutchel Diagnel, a resident of Sitio Bugnay 2, Barangay Labangon, said she was in labor at around 12 noon Monday and was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) onboard a trisikad driven by her brother a few hours later.
Diagnel, however, didn't make it to a hospital and delivered a baby boy in the trisikad at Salvador St., Barangay Labangon.
Luckily, there were concerned citizens who called for an ambulance, thus Diagnel was immediately brought to the CCMC.
The mother is now in her home in Barangay Labangon together with her newborn son, who is yet to be named.
Diagnel said on Tuesday that she collects garbage for a living as her husband is in jail. (Aljun Cainghog, CIT-University Intern/JAS/Sunnex)
