A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was injured after she fought a drunk man who attempted to rape her in a sugarcane field in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City on Friday.
The police withheld the victim’s name.
Senior Inspector Ramil Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said the victim was walking home around 8 p.m. when Julius Añola, 22, of Murcia town waylaid her at knifepoint.
Añola, who was reportedly drunk, dragged the victim to the middle of the sugarcane field and attempted to molest her. The victim fought back and sustained bruises and wounds.
She was rescued when her relative who was driving a tricycle passed by and heard her shouting for help.
Añola was brought to Murcia Municipal Police Station and was turned over to Police Station 7 in Bacolod City.
He is detained for the filing of attempted rape charges.
