ZAMBOANGA City will be a recipient of a P10 million Special Training for Employment Program (Step) from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
This came about as Tesda Director-General approved the request of Ang Kabuhayan Party-list Representative Dennis Laogan to allocate additional funds for the implementation of Step in Zamboanga City.
Loagan said in a letter address to Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar that an estimated 900 beneficiaries will be provided with free training on technical-vocational (tech-voc) in two local schools.
However, Loagan said the list of beneficiaries have to be submitted before the request can be processed.
The identified local schools that will conduct the free training are the Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School and the Zamboanga Garments Industries College of Technology, Inc.
Step is a community-based specialty training program that seeks to address the specific needs of the communities and promote employment, particularly, through entrepreneurial, self-employment and service-oriented activities. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
