THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Davao intensified its security measures on ports to prevent any untoward incident and possible entry of terror threat groups in the city.
Lieutenant Commodore Restituto de Leon of PCG-Davao, in a recent press conference, said the PCG enforced a tight security on ports, particularly at Sta. Ana pier, Maewess, and Davao-Samal ferry stations.
De Leon added the agency have also deployed additional coast guard personnel in several areas here including K-9 units to monitor and inspect baggages of people going inside and out the city.
"We are also working hand-and-hand with the Task Force Davao and Maritime police to strengthen our maritime patrols. Meron kaming day and night patrol on the shorelines in the city," de Leon said.
The PCG-Davao also encouraged the coastal barangays to inform them if they have seen any suspicious groups entering in their areas of responsibility.
Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office Director Senior Superintendent Harry Espela said the police in coordination with the military have also strengthened their intelligence monitoring and checkpoints both in land and in coastal areas of the province. (ICT)
