DAVAO City Tourism officer Generose Tecson invited Dabawenyos to donate used tires for the Santa Ana pier beautification.
Tecson, in a Facebook post last Monday, said the tires which will be used as barriers to hold the soil and planters.
In a separate interview on Tuesday, April 11, Tecson said using used donated used tires will cut the development cost.
"Napaka-expensive kasi if we put in boulders or mag-semento tayo diba? So another reason is para kontra dengue (It's very expensive if we put boulders or if we will put cement to it and it is also to prevent dengue)," she said.
"We will use these as borders and at the same time it can hold the soil in areas where we can plant," she said in Filipino.
Many have already committed to donate, she said.
In her Facebook post, Tecson said Dabawenyos are advised to bring the used tires they wish to donate to the City Economic Enterprises Office at the Sta. Ana pier. Those who may need help to bring their donation can contact 222-195758. (KVC)
