CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña will defy the order of DENR Central Visayas to stop using the South Road Properties (SRP) as transfer station for garbage.
Osmeña said the City has no other option where it will throw its garbage.
Despite the problem, he assured the public that their garbage will still be collected since the City can't compromise the health of the residents.
Meanwhile, in 9-8 votes, the City Council also vehemently opposed to the establishment of the transfer station at the SRP.
In a privilege speech, Councilor Joel Garganera said that although the mayor said the facility will be temporary, the law states that it can only operate within 24 hours. (RVC/VoxPop Cebu)
