GOING to its fourth season, the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Blue Knights Track League (BKTL) expects to draw some 100 tracksters from all over Mindanao.
League manager Airnel Abarra, who recently arrived from a 40-day training camp in Europe, in Thursday's edition of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao, said teams from Cagayan de Oro City, Mati City, Panabo City, Koronadal City and Cotabato City already expressed interest in joining the regular athletics competition that will open on July 29 at the Fr. Martinez Sports Center track oval in ADDU Matina, Davao City.
In the previous season, BKTL attracted over 80 participants from Mindanao except only from Zamboanga Peninsula.
Abarra also said that they will be having a coaches' forum on July 22 at the Grade School Conference Room, ADDU Matina campus.
"The coaches' forum aims to raise the culture of coaching," Abarra said.
Abarra, however, said that there are uncertainty of inviting national team members compared last year since Southeast Asian (SEA) Games is already approaching and they don't want to interrupt their training.
Abarra also clarified that the league aims to complement the existing athletics event such as the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet.
He is already planning to work again with Davao del Norte following last October's collaboration that gathered around 200 participants, biggest in the history of BKTL so far.
