THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao Region is set to open a new Go Negosyo Center in Sasa, Davao City, to further boost the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME's).
DTI chief business development division officer Arnulfo Gana-an said the facility is expected to rise in the first quarter of 2017.
“The launching is in pursuant of our mandate to strengthen the MSME's in Region XI (Davao Region). So far we have two centers already built within the city. We are expecting more in the following years,” he added.
The first Go Negosyo Center was established along Magsaysay Avenue last July 2015. A year after, another facility followed suit near the village hall in Toril.
“In 2016, over 2,300 MSME's were assisted by the DTI in Davao City alone,” Gana-an said.
Among the services offered in Negosyo Centers include business registration through the Philippine Business Registry System and Business consultancy in partnership with different government agencies such as Technical Education Skills and Development Authority, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Agriculture, Department of Labor and Employment, and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources among others.
Aside from business development, financial support is also afforded to micro enterprises ranging from P1 million to P3 million and medium enterprises ranging from P15 million to P100 million.
Through Go Negosyo Centers, DTI formed 298 new centers and aided a total of 491,314 clients in the Philippines in 2016. According to their website, Negosyo Centers created over 41,000 MSMEs generating more than one million jobs per year.
“With regards to the businesses that we assist, most are varied. Meaning we immerse in all types of enterprises. We provide trainings for those who want to delve into food and beauty among others,” Gana-an stressed. (Anna Angelica Sotto)
