THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) is waiting for the official copy of the approved extension of the “no parking” schedule along Lacson Street.
Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said Saturday that he is thankful to the City Council for the approval of his request last week to extend the “no parking” schedule along Lacson Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m
“As long as we have the copy, we will implement the schedule of the extension because 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. is still a rush hour,” he said.
He added that more traffic enforcers will be deployed along Lacson Street for strict implementation of the policy.
Acebuche noted that vehicles are also not allowed to occupy the sidewalk area especially, along Lacson Street.
Acebuche said the City Government has an existing City Ordinance 338, or the Comprehensive Traffic Ordinance, which include regulation of public utility jeepney routes and parking areas.
Penalty includes a fine of P1,000, towing and impoundment of illegally parked vehicles, and P1,000 redemption fee of impounded vehicles.
Councilor Caesar Distrito had earlier said that the extension is needed to make sure that traffic would be minimized along the national highway.
He said BTAO personnel should be strict in enforcing the policy to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the area.
Acebuche reminded the vehicle owners to cooperate and follow the law to avoid penalties. (MAP/VoxPop Bacolod)
