THE Sea-Based Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (SBATTF) has rescued 19 victims of trafficking-in-person (TIP) in two simultaneous rescue operations in Zamboanga City.
Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula Spokesman Rogelio Alabata said the victims were rescued around 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, at a hotel and a pension house.
Alabata said the simultaneous rescue operations were launched after the task force received information about the presence of the TIP victims.
He said the all-women victims are from as far as Kalinga province, Pangasinan, Quezon City, and Cebu City.
The police official said the youngest among them is 22 and the oldest is 42 years old.
He said the victims were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for temporary custody and psychosocial assistance. (Sunnex)
