SUPERINTENDENT Fred Trajeras Jr. has been named officer-in-charge of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Negros Island Region (NIR) effective October 18.
Trajeras succeeded Senior Superintendent Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu, based on Department Order 997 signed by Secretary Ismael Sueno of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The order came after regional directors in other offices are due for retirement.
Kwan Tiu was assigned as regional director of the BFP in National Capital Region (NCR).
The turn-over of office was held at the BFP-NIR station in Bacolod City on Friday, October 21.
Trajeras said the official turn-over will be held at the national headquarters on October 26.
On October 28, Trajeras will meet with all the fire marshalls and regional staff in another ceremony for his assumption of office to be held at Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. He will then present his directives and plans to the entire BFP personnel.
Trajeras, who is currently studying for his promotion, had served as provincial fire marshal of Negros Occidental.
