TWO men were charged before the Davao City Prosecutor's Office (CPO) for robbery with force upon intimidation for injuring a store attendant and stealing from a rice retail store, Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Charged were Arnel Bellaflor, 19, and Ruben Suberano, 28, who robbed the rice retail store owned by Michelle Luntad, in Bankerohan, at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, and injured Joel Quijada.
Luntad, who is the complainant and witness to the incident, said she saw Quijada being attacked by the suspects using a bladed weapon.
She said she was already relaxing at the 2nd floor of her rice retail store, which is open for 24 hours, when she heard the commotion downstairs.
When she checked downstairs, she saw Quijada was being attacked already. She said she tried to stop them but the suspects pointed a knife at her and shouted "Hawa dire patyon ta ka karon (Get out of here or else I will kill you)!"
The suspects then fled towards an unknown direction.
They took with them P20,000 in cash from the drawer of the store.
Quijada sustained an injury after he struggled and grappled with the suspects from stabbing him.
He said the suspects pointed a bladed weapon against him and forced him to give them the day's earnings. "Kwarta lang among tuyo (We only need the money)," they said.
But when he refused, the suspects attempted to stab him. He said he parried the assault and was punched on the face by one of the suspects instead.
Police caught Belaflor and Suberano while they were walking within the vicinity of Madapo Hills Purok 9B, Barangay 8-A, Bankerohan. Quijada positively identified both suspects.
Recovered from the possession of Belaflor was an 11-inch kitchen knife and a cash worth P2,3640 from Suberano.
The case filed against them is currently handled by Prosecutor Mariza De Los Santos-Jaugan.
