KANE Montero scored 19 while Thal Dolormente added 16 and Aldeo Lucero chipped in 11 points as the Private School Athletic Association (Prisaa)-Unit 5 demolished Unit 4, 100-76, in the opener of the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet on Tuesday, November 7, held at the University of Mindanao (UM) gym in Matina, Davao City.
The game was tight in the first quarter until Unit 5 surged to a 50-32 edge at the break and never looked back to seal its first victory in the cagefest that will serve as a qualifier for the Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet that will be hosted by Davao City next year.
Unit 5, coached by Arturo "Jun-jun" Montalban, was bannered by players from Emar Human and Environmental College (Emar), Jose Maria College (JMC) and Lamb of God Sped Academy (LGSA).
The Nestor Sorrosa-mentored Unit 7, meanwhile, thrashed Unit 3, 152-66. Vince Petdeo Cuajao and Cayle Manlimos scored identical 18 points.
Faizal Allong also sank 18 as the defending champion Unit 7 drew first blood.
Unit 8, for its part, crushed Unit 1, 100-60, in another blowout game.
Kenneth Yap paced the Bambino Santader-coached Unit 8 with 24 points while Rainer Maga and Jude Paolo Bagay added 18 and 12, respectively.
Unit 5, composed of Assumption College of Davao and Ateneo de Davao University players, were playing as of 7:00 p.m., Tuesday.
