REGIONAL finals defending champion University of St. La Salle jumpstarted their title defense in the 2018 National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Bacolod Leg with a 118-76 demolition of Mansilingan Christian Academy in the tournament’s opener.
In the other matches, St. John’s Institute outplayed Bata National High School, 102-73 while University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos routed La Consolacion College-Bacolod, 114-62.
Seeing action for the Silay City division are Vito National High School, Barangay E. Lopez National High School, Doña Montserrat Memorial High School, St. Theresita’s Academy, Sagay City National High School, and Universal School of Applied Technology-Sagay.
NBTC is a grassroots program recognized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas that aims to identify, prepare and develop young male student-athletes.
NBTC also creates learning environment opportunities for players to demonstrate and enhance both their individual and team skills. It also serves as a pathway for the players and coaches to move to a higher level competition; and to develop skills, build character and raise leaders.
The league also promotes the values of leadership, commitment to excellence, right attitude and discipline among the young students through the sport. (HGD)
