GAB Velasco shrugged off a sluggish start to win the the Datba Monthly Finals bowling tournament title on Sunday at the NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center lanes.
Velasco, who placed fourth after the eliminations, defeated twice-to-beat Sonny Dimaano 175-169, in the rubber match of the event organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association.
Velasco also won the first game, 201-159.
The champion earlier defeated No. 3 Cyrstyal Chavez (167-147) and No. 2 Jess Rule (174-141) to arrange a titular showdown with top qualifier Dimaano.
In the eight-game eliminations, Dimaano grabbed the top spot by hitting 1,588 pinfalls followed by Rule (1,580) in second, Chavez (1,556) third and Velasco (1,540) fourth.
NCCC Mall B3 ambassadress Tessa Dianne Galendez, meanwhile, clinched the highest elimination single (256) and highest finals single (232) titles.
They all received cash prizes and trophies.
