Verdeflor wake at gov’t center set Dec. 2 to 3

THE wake of former city mayor Oscar “Oca” Verdeflor will be held at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby on Dec. 2 to 3.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the BCGC lobby can accommodate as many people who would like to pay their last respects to the late mayor.

Verdeflor’s remains will be transferred from his residence at City Heights Subdivision in Barangay Taculing to BCGC on Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.

A mass will be held at 4 p.m. and a necrological service, at 5:30 p.m. Vigil starts at 7 p.m. until the next day.

On Dec. 3, another mass will be held at 2 p.m. before his interment at 4 p.m. at the Rose Lawns Memorial Park in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.

Also on Dec. 3, the day of Verdeflor’s interment, all national flags in public or government buildings and agencies in Bacolod will be flown at half-mast in accordance with Republic Act No. 8491.

The City Council has approved a resolution for this purpose as requested by Leonardia.

Verdeflor, who turned 80 last April 3, succumbed to septic shock last Nov. 21 at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod.

Verdeflor was mayor of Bacolod from 1998 to 2001. (PR)
